An emerging industry - The Art of Infographics

The traditional pie charts, bar graphs and any other old fashioned graphical representation of data has become a rather not trendy way nowadays to present results, facts and figures in order to irritate people reading and further analysing them. 

The new trend is the so-called "infographics" that visualise data in various forms, capable enough to "shake the water", passing the message to the targeted audience.

Info graphics do not deal with "easy" staff usually, the concept for them is dealing with unusual or complex things and ideas most of the times. 

Typical examples: showing patterns of global migration, colour forecast -what people are usually wearing in an area, region or in a country, visualisation of traffic and speed etc. It is obvious that for such case studies traditional graphics cannot show the complexity. 

These types of graphics, are in the front line of data visualisation for things that do not necessarily deal with every day's financial operations of a firm, trades in stock exchanges, budgets or balance sheets.

Info graphics aim to explain things that traditional graphs "fail" to present. If the collection of data has an x value in the whole process/activity then visualisation of data should be considered as an equal partner in that process/activity, making its overall value equal to .

People nowadays do not focus on the numbers anymore, they seek processed information, after all its the saying "one picture is a thousand of words" that is definitely applicable here, since an info graphic could be defined as: a visual attempt to display the progress-status of a process/activity in time.

This is a rather personal definition, however i believe it is something that most of people  can understand and know exactly what to expect when the info graphic term is used.
